MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the National Darts Hall of Fame is to recognize sustained excellence in the sport of darts as a player, organizer, promoter, or contributing supporter.

Nomination:

Any individual or organization interested in the sport of darts may nominate individuals and organizations for induction into the National Darts Hall of Fame.

Nomination criteria:

The following categories and descriptions are established for induction into the National Darts Hall of Fame:

Player (Male and Female) - a player is considered as an individual, over the age of 21, that actively participates in organized or sanctioned dart games at the local, regional, national or international level.

Youth (Male and Female) - a youth player is considered an individual, under the age of 21, that actively participates in organized or sanctioned dart games at the local, regional, national or international level.

Promoter - a promoter is an individual or organization that actively supports and promotes the sports of darts through any type of marketing or advertising or other interaction with people.

Behind the Scenes - an individual that actively supports and promotes darts through participation as an organizer, official, officer, or any other supporting position contributing to the success of a league, event, or tournament. Nomination in this category should be based on years of continuous contributions rather than a single event.

Sponsor - is an organization or corporation that provides sustained superior support and sponsorship for the promotion of the sport of darts.

Nominees must meet the following minimum criteria:

Involvement - a minimum of ten years of direct involvement with a recognized dart organization (League, organization (e.g. tournament committee), or governing body (e.g. ADO, ADA, PDC, etc)).

Additional criteria for specific categories include:

Player:

Purpose: To recognize players of exceptional caliber and ability.

Any combination of the following career statistics:

  • Minimum of ten years playing in a league or, ranking in the Top 50 players as recognized by an appropriate governing body (ADO, ADA, PDC, BDO, etc).
  • Documented consistent Top 16 or better finishes in major ($10,000 or more payout) tournament play.
  • At least one "State" Singles Championship title (301, 501 or Cricket).
  • Selection to at least one National (equivalent) team.
  • Selection as a US National representative to an international invitational event.
  • Throwing a "perfect game" in a sanctioned event (League or tournament)
    (Nine dart 501/eight dart Cricket/six dart 301).
  • Be a publicly recognized quality dart player, demonstrating high caliber ability as a player, and sportsmanship and decorum depicting the sport of darts in a positive manner to the public in general.
  • A combination of participation as a Youth and Adult may be considered for selection.

Youth:

Purpose: To recognize players of exceptional caliber and ability in the youth category.

Any combination of the following career statistics:

  • Minimum of three years ranking in the Top 50 players in the Youth category, as recognized by an appropriate governing body (ADO, ADA, PDC, WDC, etc).
  • Documented consistent Top 32 or better finishes in tournament play they are eligible to compete.
  • Selection to at least one Regional or National (equivalent) team.
  • Selection as a US National representative to an international invitational event.
  • Throwing a "perfect game" in a sanctioned event (League or tournament)
    (Nine dart 501/eight dart Cricket/six dart 301).
  • Be a publicly recognized quality dart player, demonstrating high caliber ability as a player, and sportsmanship and decorum depicting the sport of darts in a positive manner to the public in general.

Promoter:

Purpose: To recognize individuals and organizations whose actions and direct involvement contribute significantly toward the promotion of the sport of darts at all levels.

Any combination of the following career statistics:

  • Demonstrated leadership in supporting and promoting the sport of darts.
  • Active participation as an organizer, official, officer or promoter of local, regional, national, or international leagues or tournament events.
  • Author, writer, or contributor of darts and dart related articles, stories, event results, or statistics, for publication and distribution to leagues, the press, local/regional/national/international media, or the World Wide Web (www).
  • Owner, manager, or principal of a venue or facility that actively supports and promotes darts through team sponsorship, league sponsorship, event and tournament hosting, or other activities designed to enhance participation in the sport of darts.

Behind the Scenes:

Purpose: The Behind the Scenes category is used to recognize those tireless individuals that do all the lugging, toting, setting up, tearing down, registration, filing, announcing, organizing, and all those other menial labor tasks that must be done for a dart league or tournament to be successful. They do it without pay and without complaint-and they have been doing it for a long, long time.

  • Sustained superior performance of those necessary and unrecognized positions and functions that are required to promote and expand the sport of darts through leagues and tournaments.
  • Recognition by their peers and the darting community of their exemplary and tireless work ethic to promote the sport of darts.

Sponsor:

Purpose: To recognize those organizations, that through their actions, directly contributes to the promotion of the sport of darts.

  • Contribute directly through products, services, or other considerations to enhance and promote the sport of darts locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
  • A sustained, long-term commitment to supporting and promoting the sport of darts.

Nomination and Selection Process

Nomination forms are available to all interested parties at the National Dart Hall of Fame website.

Nominations for the Calendar year must be submitted to the National Dart Hall of Fame Secretary, between September 1 and November 30 for induction in the following calendar year (e.g. November/December 2005 for the Induction Class of 2006).

Nomination forms must be filled in completely. One attempt to verify missing information will be conducted by the National Dart Hall of Fame Board. If the missing information is not provided after this contact, the nomination will be discarded.

The Secretary will forward copies of all complete nominations to the members of the Board of Directors of the National Darts Hall of Fame. The members will review all nominations and forward their comments and approval/disapproval to the Secretary to compile the final list of candidates based on the recommendations of the Board.

The final slate of candidates will be published and a vote taken. Inductees will be announced at the "regional" National Dart Hall of Fame Tournament(s) and published on the National Dart Hall of Fame Website (http://www.ndhof.org/hall_of_fame.html) following the Induction Ceremony.
